Myrtle Binde Cookies
I absolutely love to bake. It is one of my all time favorite activities. I bake for my class every other week, and would bake more often if Mom was okay with me going through more butter. So far I have made Amy Sedaris’ recipe for vanilla cupcakes and Myrtle Binde Cookies, which a recipe will follow for. M.B. is one of my aunts, and she makes these cookies every time our family goes back to the farm. Tried em out on my classmates and they were well recieved.
Myrtle Binde Cookies
Combine:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup crisco
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp flavoring- vanilla, orange, almond, lemon, etc
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 egg
Roll into small balls and “squish” with a cup dipped in sugar. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes, but check regularly depending on the thickness of the cookie.
